Lankan Scholarships for foreign students

Taking an important step towards knowledge transfer for development of the Higher Education sector, the Higher Education Ministry has decided to award 100 scholarships to foreign students for the first time in history.  

A Cabinet paper for this purpose was presented by Higher Education Minister S.B. Dissanayake to enable graduate and post graduate scholarships to be awarded to foreign students annually.

“Currently around 100 scholarships are won by local students to top universities abroad.

However there has never been any programme to reciprocate this.

We hope this proposal will encourage talented students to consider studying in Sri Lanka,” he said adding that the Cabinet will be presented with an implementing mechanism in the near future.
