Lankan student leaders return from Harvard University Summit

The 14 student leaders from Sri Lanka who attended the Summer Leadership Summits at Harvard and Chicago Universities returned last week with much enthusiasm and excitement of their experience in USA. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for those promising teen leaders between the ages of 16 and 19 who are very fluent in the English Language. 300 delegates from 37 countries attended the one week summit.
The Sri Lankan delegates were from Colombo International School – Nathan Nicholas, Senuri Ranatunga and Mohammed Fayad; Overseas School in Colombo – Jamila Akbarally; Bishops College Colombo – Ameena Mustapha and Aneesah Fowzie; Musaeus College Colombo – Denethi Wijegunawardana (Head Girl); Asian International School – Laila Esufally, Harshitha Narayana and Sahan Karunarathne; Ladies College Colombo – Arthi Yogaraj; Methodist College – Jessica Mahendran; British School in Colombo – Ashton Godfrey and Elizabeth Moir School – Senitha Wanigasinghe.
“More than 80% of those students who attend our Leadership Summits gain acceptance to their First Choice College in USA,” said Rochelle Melder, the Chief Student Counsellor of Presidential Classroom Sri Lanka, local representative of The Leadership Summit Organisers, The Dwight Eisenhower Foundation Inc USA, initiated in 1956 by late American President Dwight Eisenhower.
