After careful consideration Madu decided on College of St. Benedict’s who had offered her almost a 50% scholarship. CSBSJU, located in central Minnesota is considered the second largest Catholic university in US and is among the top 100 private liberal arts schools in the nation and is another school introduced to Sri Lanka by SUSA. Joining CSB in fall 2013 this is what Madu had to say about her experience thus far: “Everybody’s been really nice in Minnesota. I was actually surprised by their warmth. I have been busy since the first week of orientation. I feel like I am always on the run; always trying to catch up to the next thing I have to do - whether getting to the next class or showing up for on-campus activities. But, I really like it this way, there’s always something to do, so I never get bored. Also, it helps to not get homesick.”
“My classes are going really good. I have talked to all my professors and they are simply great. Some of them have even helped me out when I was struggling with a few things. My academic advisors - Lisa Scott and Nichole Matuska, I see them every week and they have helped me practically with everything. Every time I needed help, there were so many extending their hands. So it has been a truly amazing experience for someone separated from family thousands of miles away.
