National Business Excellence Summit Team Excellence competitions for companies and schools

The National Business Excellence Summit will be held on 5 and 6 June at the BMICH, organised by the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka and will have separate Team Excellence Competitions on 5 and 6 June.

There will be presentations of Quality Circles (QC) Continuous Improvement Teams (CIT) Cross Functional Teams (CFT) and other forms of teams, Quality Circles at non-executive level in manufacturing and service industries, and Quality/Continuous Improvement/other teams in manufacturing and service industries. Quality Circles (QC) are volunteer teams from organisations who are guided in a scientific method of techniques such as cause and effect diagrams, Pareto charts, etc. and formulate solutions.

Originated in Japan in 1960s, the concept of Quality Circles is widespread in many parts of the world and is said to improve worker morale in addition to solving problems related to quality, productivity, customer service, safety, etc.

QC and CIT both follow the philosophy that the brains of every employee should be tapped and that there is a lot of creativity at every level that can be made use of.

Continuous Improvement Teams (CIT) and Cross Functional Teams (CFT) follow the same methodology but consist of executive level employees and event managers.

Companies could also submit quality/productivity slogans, posters, as well as Kaizen projects for the competition. In addition there will be events for schools which include debates, quiz programmes and Quality Circle presentations.
