NSB joins President in felicitation of island’s best students at 2012 A/Ls

A ceremony was held in felicitation of students with the island’s best results at the 2012 A/L examination by President Mahinda Rajapaksa at Temple Trees.



Accordingly, 15 students who were placed island first, second and third in Science, Physical Science, Commerce, Arts and Optional Stream (IT) received academic scholarships for term of four years.

NSB fully contributed towards these academic scholarships by way of awarding Rs. 100,000 for the island’s best in main subject streams and by awarding cash prizes for those who have excelled at the recent A/L examination. These cash prizes were awarded via the Ithuru Mithuru account of NSB as academic scholarships.

NSB Chairman Sunil S. Sirisena, General Manager/CEO H.M. Hennayake Bandara and Deputy General Manager (Marketing) Jagath Gamanayake attended this event representing National Savings Bank.

Minister of Education Bandula Gunewardena, Minister of Educational Services Duminda Dissanayake, Chief of Staff at the President’s Office Gamini Senerath, Secretary to the Ministry of Education Gotabhaya Jayarathne, parents of the students and several invitees were also present at the occasion.

NSB extends its warm wishes to these brilliant performers at the A/L examination and wishes them all the best, strength and courage to contribute towards building the future of a wondrous nation as talented and scholarly professionals in time to come.
