OpenArc holds Convocation 2012

The OpenArc School of Business and Technology (OSBT) Convocation 2012 ceremony was held at the BMICH recently.

University of Colombo School of Computing Director Professor Gihan Wickramanayake was the Chief Guest and Metropolitan Computers Director/CEO Niranjan De Silva was the Guest of Honour.



Students who successfully completed the Diploma in Industrial Software Development (IDSD) were conferred with the IDSD diploma certificates by Prof. Wickramanayake.

The new batch of IDSD IV (2013) students comprising 40 students received the offer letters for the full and the half scholarships awarded by OpenArc School for four years of free education towards BIT degree of University of Colombo, from Niranjan De Silva and Niranjala Weerasinghe respectively.

Prof. Wickramanayake delivering convocation speech emphasised the value of the IDSD program and mentioned that it was very important to provide software industry experience with academic studies, which is the practice of OpenArc at all times. He said that the students in the present society continue without goals in the life and, sharing his personal experience, said how one should focus in corporate world and the society.

OpenArc Chairman/CEO Daya Hettiarachchi explained the IDSD study program and said the OpenArc School offers 25 annual scholarships to provide 100% free education over a period of four years for them to complete the diploma in the first year and then three year degree of BIT offered by University of Colombo School of Computing.

These scholarship holders are offered not only free education but job opportunities at the end of first year of the IDSD diploma.
