Higher education is a target for all students and parents, setting the platform for future success and career growth. At The Overseas School of Colombo (OSC) the focus is on developing responsible learners who strive for personal excellence and empower them to achieve global success. Its holistic approach to learning, respecting divergent opinions and cultures and development of confident, innovative young people embodies the spirit of the International Baccalaureate Organisation (www.ibo.org). OSC is a fully authorised IB world school, offering the IB program from Preschool to Grade 12. The IB approach to learning focuses on developing inquirers and critical thinkers, and this approach is harnessed and practiced throughout the entire curriculum. Community service is a big part of this program, helping students to appreciate their situation and contribute in a meaningful, pro-active and engaging manner with others. Students take on the responsibility of developing projects and actions which will sustain and contribute towards their well-being. As such Creativity-Action-Service (CAS) is a core requirement of the IB Diploma and students present their original ideas and actions towards this.  The IB Diploma Program is a rigorous two-year course of study which prepares students for higher education and life beyond. It provides a broad learning which provides the students the opportunity to explore their capabilities and interest and set a path for their future. Their 2013 class of 35 graduates performed admirably, receiving up to USD 750,000 in university scholarship offers. Over 200 universities worldwide have access to OSC students.
