Pakistani students in Sri Lanka on a Goodwill visit

A 22-member student delegation of Pakistan National College of Arts which is on a goodwill visit to Sri Lanka from 23 January to 1 February 2014, visited the High Commission of Pakistan in Sri Lanka, today . While, welcoming the delegation, the High Commissioner of Pakistan in Sri Lanka Major Gen(R) Qasim Qureshi highlighted that Pakistan has a dynamic and vibrant society with more than 3,000 years old civilization. The country has produced a number of renowned artists, painters, musicians and poets which speaks volumes of its cultural diversity, he added. He expressed the hope that the visit would add value to the already strengthened bonds of friendship between Pakistan and Sri Lanka. He added that more frequent people-to-people contacts through enhanced student and faculty exchanges between universities of the two countries would further promote this relationship. The High Commission  would continue to patronize and support such initiatives, he said. Earlier the delegation visited the University of Visual and Performing Arts Colombo. The national College of Arts Lahore and the University of Visual and Performing Arts Colombo signed an MoU for Cooperation in 2010. The students visited the art gallery of the university and also witnessed the cultural performance at the faculty of dance and music.  The delegation would also visit Galle, Kandy, Anuradhapura and Sigirya during their stay in Sri Lanka.
