In recent years, the integration of digital technologies has been exclusive only to the nation’s entertainment and ICT sectors. The education sector, however, remains impervious to digitalization owing to a 27% national IT literacy rate.

The inaccessibility of web-based information, particularly in avenues for post-secondary education, has led to an indecisive tech-savvy generation, prompting Comparison Ltd. to unveil Sri Lanka’s first education resource comparison platform —YouCompare.lk (YC) — on Tuesday, 7 March.Untitled-3

YC is an all-in-one tool designed for today’s prospective student; an individual who seeks more from technology, the classroom and the campus. The platform is free and accessible to all. It provides an immeasurable array of information. Users can filter institutions or course profiles using built-in indicators such as desired career paths, interests, and affordability. The platform also offers unbiased student counseling, career guidance sessions, articles, and audiovisual resources in English, Sinhala, and Tamil.

YC has also been designed to cater to educational institutions seeking free registration. Education Institute Portals (EIPs) are built into the platform, allowing registered institutions to scale or modify courses for digital national visibility. The EIPs also provide statistical tools to analyse course popularity, and provide access to a database of prospective students.

“YC provides an innovative experience to prospective students and educational institutions alike,” said NadviMohideen, Director at Comparison Ltd. “The integration of technology within the education sector can fundamentally transform how learning is received and delivered. Technology in the digital era has created a new level of personalised learning. I am excited to see how much more the education sector will pleasantly surprise more people in the coming years especially as applications and users’ needs continue to evolve.”

Prospective students and education institutions are often held back by financial barriers. Comparison Ltd. has identified this problem and has seized on the opportunity to create an online platform that delivers much needed educational resources for today’s youth.

YC will be Sri Lanka’s total solutions provider for education related resources on the web. And while the platform is committed to offering an unmatched educational service, YC will aim to launch Sri Lanka’s first-ever student e-card – an amenity securing discounts, which can be used with its partnered institutes and all vendor partners across Sri Lanka.
