Ravindu Vathsala is the latest placement by Scholarships for USA Ltd (www.scholarshipsforusa.com) at University of North Dakota (www.und.edu) for a Bachelors degree in Aviation Management. Ravindu an alumnus of Asian International School (www.ais.lk) sought the guidance of SUSA to enter the best university aviation program in the world with the largest number of training aircraft outside a commercial establishment. Yasith shared many experiences from his college days to current position to make Ravindu understand that he is indeed lucky to have entered such a great school urging him never to look back and to keep trying to reach stars. He encouraged Ravindu to take a few more classes in whatever fields that interests him and to make friends with the wonderful UND community – always willing to help an international student. He also emphasised the importance in sharing with and supporting one’s team-mates for better outcomes (and never to be selfish). He urged Ravindu to think as a global citizen yet never forgetting the home country and its culture. UND was introduced to Sri Lanka by SUSA in 2008 by Priyanthi and Padmasena Dissanayake in their relentless search for most affordable high quality US colleges and universities for the brightest stars of the island nation. Since then many stars from different high schools such as St. Anthony’s Katugastota, Asian International, Gateway International and Royal Institute, have been placed to pursue different interests (besides aviation) such as IT, Biomedecine and Geography. Each Lankan has done exceptionally well in Grand Forks earning many commendations and awards making the tiny tropical island of the Indian Ocean well known and respected in the cold North Dakota. UND – a public liberal arts school – is one of the most respected universities of the US Midwest also boasts of own Medical and Law schools. In Aviation its advanced fleet of aircraft, state of the art equipment, the only altitude chamber owned by a civilian institute has made UND aviators champions in most national collegiate flying competitions year after year. Referring to the assistance received from SUSA Ravindu stated: “I am happy to have found them; outstanding commitment and professionalism. Instant responses whenever clarifications were sought; very grateful for a solid support right up to getting my visa.”
