‘Right employer’ and ‘right employee’ dilemma

Sri Lanka’s unemployment rate has declined to 4.0% in 2012 whilst among educated youth the unemployment rate has risen to 18.9% Source – Central Bank of Sri Lanka Annual Report 2012 A grave concern undermining the outcomes of our Free Education system exists as even the ‘cream of the crop’ that enters local universities too is often being tagged as ‘Unemployable’. Conversely, there is a continuous grouse from private sector employers that they cannot find right employees with right skills to fill various job vacancies that exist in their companies. In the backdrop of such paradoxically complex voids and mismatches both seekers of ‘right employment’ and ‘right employees’ appear to be in a dilemma, costing the nation billions of Rupees in lost domestic production and income.
