Sampath, official banker of Colombo Intl. Book Fair for 9th consecutive year

Sampath Bank is the official banker of the Colombo International Book Fair 2012 for the ninth consequent year. This Book Fair will be held at BMICH from 18 to 26 September 2012.

This is a highly recognised and much awaited event in the local calendar and will be patronised by millions of both local and foreign book lovers. This Book Fair is a catalyst in instilling the reading habit among the masses.

Commenting on the facilities offered Deputy General Manager – Marketing and Business Development, Tharaka Ranwala said that the prime objective is to encourage the reading habit among the children as well as the young and the old as a socially responsible corporate citizen. “The Colombo International Book Fair is an event most looked forward to by the masses in Sri Lanka and is the ideal place for this,” he added.

Sampath cardholders visiting the Colombo International Book Fair now being held at the BMICH will get an additional 5% discount when they pay for their purchases with either a Sampath Credit Card or VISA Debit Card.  The offer is valid until the Book Fair ends on 26 September.

Sampath Bank will also ensure that the visitors who turn up in thousands will have the facility of conveniently obtaining the cash they need through the ATM machine at the Sampath Bank Stall.

The staff of the bank will also facilitate the banking needs of both participants and merchants at the fair. As in previous years, this year too Sampath Bank will sponsor the ‘Ketapath Pavura’ where the visitors can scribble their thoughts on the Fair.

The most creative poems, lyrics and verses will be rewarded by Sampath with valuable gifts at the end of each day. At the end of the Book Fair, the best compositions are published.

In addition, Sampath Bank was also the sponsor of the prestigious ‘Swarna Pusthaka Award’ 2012, which is the most esteemed national honour given to the best Sinhala Novel every year.  

The Book Fair, organised by the Sri Lanka Book Publishers Association for the 14th year, attracts a large number of both international and local booksellers who exhibit books on varied subjects and disciplines written in Sinhala, Tamil and English. Like in previous years, people from all parts of the island are expected to visit this year’s Book Fair.
