SIP Academy Sri Lanka conducted the first International Abacus, Brain Gym & Mental Arithmetic Competition in Sri Lanka at Colombo in December 2007.

“The students were tested on their concentration, confidence, intelligence, speed, and accuracy. It is heartening to see the competitive spirit amongst these children and their self-confidence, which is essential for life,” said Dinesh Victor, MD of SIP India/Sri Lanka.

Chief Guest Dr. Faiz Marikkar, Head of the Department of Biochemistry, Rajarata University, presented the prizes and said that parents should concentrate more on educating their children. He noted that Abacus is a very good program to enhance children’s ability to do better in their studies as it helps develop memory and concentration.

ITN Director Hashim Omar was the Guest of Honour and presented some prizes as well.
