SLIIT commences enrolment for MSc programs

With the aim of equipping students with a well recognised MSc qualification and giving them a cutting edge at their place of work, SLIIT, the premier degree awarding institute, has now commenced enrolment for its MSc degree programs; MSc in Information Technology, MSc in Information Management, MSc in Information Systems, MSc in IT (Specialising in Cyber Security) and MSc Degree in Enterprise Applications Development. An open information session for all of the above mentioned programs will be held on 20 May at the SLIIT Metro Campus from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. In addition to the specific requirements for each program of study, the selection of the candidates will also be based on the performance at the selection test/interview and on recommendations. “At SLIIT, we focus on the holistic development of each student. Specially designed by SLIIT to provide students with an advanced knowledge in Information Technology, supplemented by a range of optional subjects, the SLIIT MSc in Information Technology, currently on its 11th intake, requires students to have a BSc in IT, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or any other degree in a relevant field or have membership at a recognised professional institute, in a relevant field as approved by SLIIT, with relevant work experience. Critical awareness of modern ICT applications The SLIIT MSc in Information Management is a program for graduates and members of professional bodies with managerial experience. This will enable participants to develop a critical awareness of modern ICT applications in Information Management and decision making. Interested students should have a Bachelor’s degree in any field from a recognised university or have membership at a recognised professional institute and a minimum three year work experience at a managerial level. Focusing on high-tech innovations in the field of IT and its successful integration to business, the MSc program in Information Systems require students to have a BSc in IT, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or any other degree in a relevant field or have membership at a recognised professional institute, in a relevant field as approved by SLIIT, with relevant work experience. Currently on its 4th intake, the SLIIT MSc in IT (Cyber Security) provides detailed knowledge of the key concepts in data, resource protection and will help graduates make strategic cyber security decisions. A Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or any other degree in a relevant field that is accepted by SLIIT is required for all potential students. “The course covers the common body of knowledge, developed by the International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium, ISACA, ACM, IEEE and ACS. This renowned program will include hands on workshops with international experts in Digital Forensics,” noted SLIIT Dean Computing Dr. Malitha Wijesudara. The MSc in Enterprise Applications Development, offered by Sheffiled Hallam University (SHU) UK, will give students the opportunity to evaluate, draw conclusions and make forecasts based upon diverse business and technological environments, apply complex problems in the implementation of large scale IT systems and design appropriate solutions, all during the renowned two year program. Conducted by SLIIT in Sri Lanka, under the expertise of lecturers from SHU, SLIIT and experts from the industry, this MSc program is geared for students who possess a first or upper second class degree in Software Engineering/ Computer Science/ Information Technology with two years experience in Software Development or a recognised degree in a relevant field with three years experience in Software Development or have membership at a recognised professional institute, in a relevant field as approved by SLIIT, with relevant work experience. Approved by the University Grants Commission, under the Universities Act, SLIIT offers Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Computing, Business and Engineering.
