SLIIT commences special intake post release of GCE A/Level results

For over 15 years, SLIIT has been recognised as the premier degree awarding institute in the country which provides a broad scope of academic opportunities for students in the fields of computing, business and engineering. By popular demand, due to the high credibility and reputation maintained by the institute, SLIIT has commenced a special intake for January 2015. Students need to send in applications on or before 14 January. The aptitude test will take place on 18 January at all SLIIT centres and campuses.                   The four year SLIIT BSc. Special Honours degree in Information Technology, is available in six fields of specialisation; information technology, computer systems and networking, information systems, software engineering, interactive media and cyber security. The variety in specialisations will provide a wider scope of opportunities for students interested in joining the IT industry. “Students studying IT at SLIIT will have an edge, since they will gain work experience, industry knowledge, business skills and soft skills due to the in house internship program which we launched recently. We are proud to say that we have produced over 20,000 IT professionals to the nation,” noted SLIIT Chairman Professor Lakshman Ratnayake.   Modern Business management calls for a multi disciplinary approach, hence the four year BBA. Special Honours degree specialises in Marketing Management, Accounting and Finance, Human Capital Management, Quality Management and Management Information Systems. The entry requirements for the Information Technology and Business degree programs are three passes in any subject stream in one and the same sitting or equivalent at the G.C.E A/L examination (Sri Lanka/London) and a pass at the aptitude test conducted by SLIIT. Along with the above requirements, students seeking to specialise in the Computer Systems and Networking degree must have a pass in Mathematics or Physics.   “The degrees we offer, here at SLIIT are all approved by the University Grants Commission under the Universities Act. SLIIT is a member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities and a member of the International Association of Universities.  Hence due to the immense credibility, reputation and high rate of student employability our courses are in great demand, which urges us to have special intakes,” commented SLIIT President and CEO Professor Lalith Gamage.   SLIIT also gives students the opportunity to enrol in the four year Bsc. Honours Engineering Degree. This program specialises in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics and Electrical and Electronic Engineering. SLIIT requires prospective students to have three passes in the Math stream, including a Credit pass in Mathematics or Physics in one and the same sitting at the G.C.E A/L examination (Sri Lanka/London) and a pass at the aptitude test conducted by SLIIT.
