In order to overcome these challenges in the   contemporary world, the diverse atmosphere and the well structured syllabi provided us with skill enhancement, practical exposure and the theoretical knowledge to deal with corporate world,” Sujan said. He can assure and confirm the knowledge he gained from the modules such as Strategic Management, Operations Management, Human Resources and the very special module called ‘Decision Making in Uncertainty’ provided them the required impetus to understand how International Operations are conducted in a competitive environment, from a country like Sri Lanka. Needless to say, this MBA from Wales at IIHE taught them not only to gain the competitive advantage for their businesses but also to understand the importance of designing and executing a proper strategic plan for the company to be ahead of others. The International Business Module accentuated not only the way multi-nationals operate around the world, but also the importance of understanding cultural aspects of each and every country and in each and every region which is vital in international trade. Naturally this knowledge also provided us the edge in negotiation skills in international markets and the much required adoptability, and agility to deal with the Multinational Companies across the world. Case studies for these modules were grilling yet the knowledge gained was enormous, said Sujan. Though the program was well focused and required a fair amount of attention as young MBAs, they also had lots of fun while having combined studies, group presentations and between semesters breaks. Not only that, they also participated in soft ball cricket tournaments, Beach Rugby and Dinner Dances which were organised by the IIHE student Union, on which, they still have unforgettable memories. When asked about the lecture panel, Sujan stated that the lecturers are unique and they share and transfer their knowledge along with the industry exposure. Sujan also said, “The MBA classroom at IIHE is very vibrant as the class consists of young graduates, professionals such as CIMA and ACCA qualified accountants and CFOs and also some mature students with many years of managerial and operational experience. We also had a few CEOs in our class. Hence, we learnt a lot not only from the lecturers, but also from the students in the class through discussions, arguments and sharing experience. We were always told that there were no wrong answers in the class room which made everybody to air their opinion with ease.” Finally, Sujan stated based on his own experience, he can assure, to any aspiring individual to follow the MBA at IIHE as the program provides the required impetus to climb the corporate ladder and to blossom at the strategic level.
