Thames College introduces first-ever corporate social responsibility initiative

Thames College of Further & Higher Education Ltd proudly celebrated four years of successful services in the field of hospitality and tourism education in Sri Lanka. To coincide with this momentous event, Thames College introduced its first ever corporate social responsibility initiative by offering a full scholarship in Tourism Management or Hotel Management to the value of Rs. 800,000. Under the scholarship program, a deserving person from the tourism, hospitality or travel industries or from the general public with significant financial need would receive free education to prepare for careers in one of these two highly demanding fields. Thames College was launched in March 2010 with a powerful vision to be the number one innovative and effective education solutions provider in Sri Lanka. Thames College is a sister company of Thames International, a pioneer in the field of overseas student placement, yet another milestone reached through the concerted efforts of Priyantha Padmasiri, Chairman of Thames College in providing the best educational service to the deserving younger generation  and also to enhance the qualifications of the professionals in Sri Lanka. Thames College’s mission is to produce hospitality and tourism professionals of international repute who are academically sound and practically relevant to cater to the needs of the growing tourism industry worldwide. The goal of the CSR initiative is to help individuals facing socio-economic hardships further their education in areas of higher learning, by removing some of the financial burdens associated with going to, surviving in, and graduating from college. Thames is also working to increase the ways in which it can expand and strengthen its scope of work around education, economic advancement and service. Sanju Dissanayake, CEO of Thames College, stated: “I am delighted to be part of this initial scholarship project as it is a significant and comprehensive program of educational upliftment for society and the industry as a whole.
