Top business degrees of Monash University offered in Sri Lanka

The highly reputed and internationally recognised Monash University is the only university within the prestigious Group of Eight to have achieved triple accreditation for its Melbourne-based Business and Economics faculty. Monash in collaboration with their exclusive local partner in Sri Lanka, Universal College Lanka (UCL), has now launched their Bachelor of Business degree, giving Sri Lankan students opportunities for employment across the globe with a broad range of career 07-Silvaoptions in fields such as accounting, economics, marketing, management, consulting, and international business.

The Bachelor of Business is a three-year full time comprehensive degree that focuses on business management and developing the knowledge required to run an organisation and comprises of a mix of practical and analytical business skills. It is designed to provide graduates with high-level skills in a range of key business disciplines to provide them with the skills to work in and manage different functions across an organisation. It blends a conceptual theoretical framework with practical applications, providing both a broad basis for business study and the more specific knowledge of selected majors.

Its flexible course structure offers a wide range of elective units where students can choose their major area of study from 14 majors and have the option to study a second major or double degree. 

As Monash is also ranked 20th in the world for Accounting and Finance and 24th in the world for economics and econometrics, a student can specialise in accounting and finance, business law and taxation, economics, econometrics and business statistics, management or marketing when studying the business degree at Monash. 

Structured in three equal parts it consists of a business specified study, that provides a broad foundation for the study of business and expose students to several business disciplines. 

The first will develop understanding of multi-disciplinary decision making in organisations and will also give the opportunity to learn more about each discipline before finalising their choice of major. 

The next area will be the business listed major that provides a focused program of study that will develop expertise in one discipline area. Students will develop, apply and communicate an advanced level of understanding of the concepts and theoretical frameworks that constitute the knowledge base of their major area of study.

The third area is an elective study that enables to further develop knowledge in a chosen major or business more broadly, or study a second business major. 

The Bachelor of Business course can be taken in combination with any of the following courses that includes, Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Business Specialist, Bachelor of Design, Bachelor of Education (Honours), Bachelor of Fine Art and Bachelor of Information Technology.

Speaking of the degree UCL CEO Lasantha De Silva said, “The world of business is challenging, fast-paced and constantly evolving. Every industry today needs people with the right business skills to manage both current and future challenges and thrive in a competitive business landscape. Therefore the aim of this course is to develop the knowledge of students with a broad and in depth business insight to acquire expertise in all the areas of business practice.

Upon successful completion of this degree students will have the ability to apply research skills to business challenges, exhibit cross cultural competence and demonstrate broad knowledge and technical expertise to provide discipline based solutions relevant to the business they serve. Graduates will also have a well-developed understanding of multi-disciplinary decision making in organisations via application of knowledge from core business discipline areas,” he added.
