The two students are Anjali Upeksha Maduwanthi, all-island first, from Thalathuoya Primary School in Kandy, and Rasini Dilinika Madubashini, seventh in Kegalle District, from Kegalle Mayinnoluwa Central School. The two prodigies will receive continuous support and direction from Vallibel Finance.
“We are a centre of financial excellence but our focus isn’t merely on business success. We strive to be an integral part of the social fabric, being attuned to the needs of our society. Bringing two well-deserving children under the auspicious of our CSR vision clearly illustrates it,” said a spokesman for Vallibel Finance.
“Financial support will assure an uninterrupted higher education for these children but our pledge is to not limit our efforts to just that. We will continue to support them through prudent counsel and direction, also making sure that they grow in a healthy environment, he said, adding that it is imperative that a child grows in a positive environment that builds a healthy mind.”
The students’ compelling economic situations were prime in their selection with both families struggling due to hardships.
Anjali Upeksha Maduwanthi who topped the all-island list studies at Thalathuoya Primary School with her parents struggling to support her through the income generated from dairy farming. Anjali is the elder sibling of a family receiving Samurdhi support.
Rasini Dilinika Madhubashini is a student of Kegalle Mayinnoluwa Central School and both her parents are blind. The family depends on the income generated by her father who is self-employed as a lottery seller.
Both children were selected after careful consideration with both struggling to continue their higher education despite outstanding achievements.
