Victoria Higher Education (Private) Limited (VHEL) sponsored by the BOI is geared to launch operations in the first quarter of a brand New Year unveiling “Victoria Higher Education Campus” (VHEC) shortly in Colombo.

“VHEC a Higher Education Institution will deliver full degree programmes from Greenwich University, London UK right here in Sri Lanka.  – The entire three years of the undergraduate programmes in addition to a foundation program will be offered for a fraction of the cost of sending your child overseas.  VHEC has the expertise, financial stability and a strong network of professional educators to give your child the very same experience and curriculum that is available in the United Kingdom; right here in Colombo” says Russell Pearson, Campus Director - VHEC.  Offering world renowned and recognised Greenwich Degree Programmes locally, VHEC ensures that your child is close to home yet has the modern facilities and trained staff to ensure he/she gets the best of education at a very reasonable cost. Providing your child with a world renowned education in the homeland will ensure you have less financial concerns relating to rent, airfare, food and tuition fees etc.

VHEC will offer an International Foundation Programme from February 2013 and a range of undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes from September 2013, including International Business - BA (Hons), Accounting and Finance - BA (Hons), Computer Science, BSc (Hons), MBA International Business, and MSc Computer Science from the University of Greenwich in London, UK.  VHEC is now ready to sign up a new generation of students for their February 2013 intake of the International Foundation programme, an intensive preparation course for those who wish to pursue a degree but don’t yet have the full entry requirements.  Of the subjects on offer, Russell Says “Covering subject areas of great demand in the world today, such as International Business which focuses on the importance of an international dimension for many businesses today, creates a demand for graduates with sound business skills and the ability to operate effectively outside their home soil. Redesigned in consultation with the business community, this programme aims to meet evolving business demands. Students receive a comprehensive, practically based business education and a thorough understanding of the international context in which businesses operate.’

Mr. Pearson has worked at a number of UK Universities both as an academic and as a manager, holding several senior positions.  He started his career teaching information systems and later began to specialise in the application of technology in the creative industries, an area in which he is still active.  Prior to joining VHEC he was the Associate Dean at Middlesex University in the School of Science and Technology where he was closely involved in the development of overseas campuses and international activities.  He remains active as an external examiner for two British Universities, and participates regularly in review and validation events. He was made a life member of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) in 1999 whilst working as Associate Dean at the London College of Music.  In his spare time he is a long serving Magistrate for the North Essex Bench, and until January was Chair of the Independent Monitoring Board for HM Prison Chelmsford of which he is still a member.

“VHEC students will have the flexibility to transfer from VHEC in Colombo to Greenwich University in London, and back from Greenwich to VHEC if required at any point of their degree program. Whilst in London they will have to pay the London fees, of course. The Degree is a full Degree Program identical to that offered by Greenwich University in London and the Certificate issued to the student will be from Greenwich University” explained Pearson. This flexibility is especially convenient for those students who may want to experience living overseas for a period of time or for matters of financial convenience. Whatever the reason, this flexible option can be conducted in a smooth manner which would not disrupt or delay the students study program; ensuring focus is maintained for the student and he/she does not waste time and resources.

A Professional Panel of UK experienced lecturers are on board at VHEC to ensure teaching methodology and the UK curriculum are upheld to the highest standard and quality. This panel of educators have international exposure and have years of teaching experience with a great deal of lecturing exposure in modern learning environments. The teaching methods are on par with Greenwich University in London, ensuring that the classroom experience, knowledge derived and student culture created within the local Campus is equivalent to that in London.

VHEL is owned by EDNET a Dubai based company, providing the financial stability and backing required, which has education centres elsewhere in the world. EdNet has carefully picked Sri Lanka to set up a fully fledged Campus which will be available to the Asian Region. Sri Lanka is the midpoint for students in the Asian region to meet in one place to acquire and assimilate the best of education and experience. The VHEC Campus is fully equipped with modern facilities and amenities including Wifi access across the Campus site, a spacious student lounge, an innovative learning environment and free thinking culture, student centered facilities, a library containing several thousand topics and electronic resources and state of the art Computer Laboratories.

VHEC is now open for the February 2013 intake and is located at No. 498, R. A. De Mel Mawatha, Colombo 03. Follow VHEC on Facebook by logging on to www.facebook.com/VHECSL
