Vogue Jewellers delivers another historical promise

Vogue Sisu Nena Ran Pradaana winners who scored the highest all-island marks with Vogue Jewellers Managing Director Anura Hemachandra, Minister of Education Akila Viraj Kariyawasam, Vogue Jewellers Chairperson Chandra Hemachandra and Vogue Jewellers Director Samantha Hemachandra

The five schools of the five winners were awarded Rs. 100,000 each. Here the Principals of the respective schools with the Minister of Education and the management of Vogue Jewellers Sri Lanka’s premier jeweller, Vogue Jewellers, with the auspices of the Ministry of Education awarded the inaugural Vogue Sisu Nena Ran Pradaana at a grand ceremony graced by Minister of Education Akila Viraj Kariyavasam. The historical Vogue Sisu Nena Ran Pradaana, a brainchild of Vogue Jewellers Director Samantha Hemachandra was launched late last year with a view of celebrating excellence of the top performers at the G.C.E. Advanced Level Examinations. H.G. Hiruni Udara of Sujatha Maha Vidyalaya, Matara; Pakiyarajah Darukeesan of Hindu College, Jaffna; Piyumi Dhananjana of Southland College, Galle and Nethsala Pathirana of Vishakha Vidyalaya, Colombo being the students who scored the highest marks from each stream at the G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination 2014 were awarded Vogue Sisu Nena Ran Pradaana. Each winner was felicitated with an exclusive 22 carat Gold Medal, a Certificate and a Vogue Gift Voucher, which the students can redeem when purchasing their wedding jewellery in the future. Moreover, to celebrate and inspire, the respective schools were awarded Rs. 100,000 each together with a certificate. Additionally, Nipuni Dias Nagahawatte of Musaeus College, Colombo who scored the island’s highest in the ICT stream too was award Sisu Nena Ran Pradaana for her excellent performance in the new stream introduced by the Ministry of Education. Hemachandra elaborating on Vogue Sisu Nena Ran Pradaana said: “Vogue Jewellers is synonymous with excellence. We are passionate about excellence. We want to instil the value of being truly committed to excellence in the minds of the young generation. “I felt that rewarding the high flyers of the G.C.E. Advanced Level Examinations would be a great way to give our effort an excellent start. So my idea was to reward the all-island top performers from the four streams – Bio Science, Maths, Commerce and Arts. Taking this recognition of excellence forward, it was unanimously decided among us at Vogue to reward them in this manner. “Our sincere appreciation is extended to the Minister for gracing this historical occasion amidst his busy schedule. We are also grateful to the officials of the Ministry, lead by Hemantha Premathilleke for the kind cooperation extended for this project and look forward to their continued support in the future in order to carry out this project year after year. “I am ever so grateful to Anura Hemachandra, my husband and the Managing Director of Vogue for whole heartedly supporting this effort and even taking it forward in this manner,” concluded Hemachandra. Anura Hemachandra added: “This is the latest among numerous CSR projects Vogue has carried out in the past. The renovation of several Buddhist, Christian, Hindu and Muslim shrines under the project titled ‘Ape Pansala’; sponsoring of grand weddings of 12 deserving couples under ‘Mangala Sihina’, donating wheel chairs for the handicapped are a few among them. “The unwavering commitment to excellence, the deeply entrenched value of our organisation has enabled us to constantly deliver excellence from all angles – our world class designs and craftsmanship for which we have repeatedly won international recognition, the superior customer care service we offer and the ability to retain ISO International Certification for five consecutive years. “Our aim is to instil this valuable attribute of pursuing excellence among the younger generation of our nation.
