The Young Members Forum of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, as a part of its program to help prepare local university students for the job market, recently conducted a career guidance program at the Rajarata University. Accordingly, nearly 250 undergraduates of the Rajarata University took part in the program, which gave them an understanding of the local job market, knowledge on how to prepare a professional resume and a covering letter and also how to face an interview with confidence. The half a day program also gave the students an understanding of the services offered by the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce and the role it played towards helping the private sector of the country. The Career Guidance program was held with the support of the Career Guidance Unit of the Rajarata University. “This program has helped our students to gain practical knowledge on the current job market and for assisting in personal grooming” said Dr. G.A.S. Ginigaddara, Senior Lecturer, who is in-charge of the career guidance unit of the Rajarata University. “This initiative, is one out of a series of similar events the YMF is planning to organise during this year to nurture and educate the younger generation of the country and bring forth the next generation of leaders,” said Gillian Nugara, President of the Young Members Forum. HNB were the main sponsors of the event whilst Metropolitan Telecom Services were the co-sponsors.
