Youth Fest 2011 a success

Organised by AIESEC and Erath Dreams International and partnered by National Youth Service Council, Bank of Ceylon, World Bank, SriLankan Airlines, Brown and Co, CIMA Sri Lanka Division and Ribelz Ltd., the Youth Fest 2011 was held recently.

Around 167 Students engaged in higher education institutes (universities and technical colleges) participated 15 international delegates from various countries and 50 from the north and east of the country.

The programme was based on personal development, and addressed the fact of youth participation on key issues in the country. Top trainers from corporate sector, development practitioners and young politicians were among the resource persons. Some of them were Gamika De Silva from Etisalat, Vidura Relapanawa from Honda Motors, Sasa Razaz from World Bank, Parliamentarian Dr. Ramesh Pathirana and Sri Ranga Jayaratnam.

This programme helped students develop their career, find out jobs, learn how to be fit for jobs specially in private sector, how to use their knowledge in a productive way and there how they can help to develop the country further.

It was held as residential programme from 9-11 December 2011 at the Youth Centre, Maharagama. AIESEC – the world’s largest student-run organisation – is present in 107 countries across 800 universities. Erath Dreams International (EDI) – a training and logistics management company – is run by a group of entrepreneurs.
