Zahirians trounce Wesleyites in maiden debate championship

Zahira College, Colombo emerged champions at the Zahira vs Wesley Debate Championship which was held on 15 March at the Abdul Ghafoor Hall, Zahira College. Both teams displayed excellent potential in debating as they tried to convince the house by justifying their arguments on the topic ‘Dictatorship is more efficient than democracy’ with Zahira opposing the topic. 

The speakers of the Champion team were Nazar, Shalaby Isa, Hassaan Shazuli and Adhil Amhar. The Wesleyite team was led by Master Ismail Nyzar and the Zahirians by Shuaib Nazar. To strengthen the ties between both these prestigious institutions this debate championship will be held as a traditional contest annually. The competition was judged by Attorney at law Danien Rodrigo (LLB) and Toastmaster Hafeez Saleem.
